Atopic Dermatitis Foot Treatment

Atopic Dermatitis Foot Treatment

Atopic dermatitis can appear anywhere on the skin including the feet.

Several methods exist to treat atopic dermatitis and can also be used to treat the affected areas, no matter where it is on the body.

One of the methods that most people should start with is to moisturize the skin and take lukewarm showers, instead of hot ones. It is also advised that people suffering from atopic dermatitis should switch to cleansers and moisturizers that are unscented and meant for sensitive skin. This will help to prevent the skin from drying out.

To increase moisture, it is best to apply a rich moisturizer after taking a shower, or bath, while your skin is still slightly damp.

Following these methods will help treat atopic dermatitis on the feet or anywhere else on the body.

Changing the type of socks that you wear may also help to prevent itching that is associated with atopic dermatitis. Cotton fabrics won’t rub against your feet the same way that some synthetic fabrics will. When choosing cotton socks, make sure that they are 100% cotton and have not been dyed, as any dye used may irritate the feet more.

Dampness and sweating on the feet will also cause your atopic dermatitis to worsen, so if this is the case then you should remember to change your socks several times throughout the day.

If atopic dermatitis persists on your feet, it is recommended that you go seek a medical professional who would be able to prescribe a medication or topical ointment or cream for you.

These medications will help to treat the itching and irritation caused by atopic dermatitis with the help of certain steroids such as hydrocortisone and corticosteroids.

If symptoms worsen for your atopic dermatitis on the feet then you should go see your doctor.
